Chip Conk

In the eyes of Mr. Chip Conk, business is a family affair. One of Chip’s extracurricular activities at the University of California at Santa Barbara included organizing a contest where the sorority members voted for who they thought were the cutest boys on campus. The winners were featured in a black and white calendar, which was sold throughout the UC Santa Barbara campus. Being the entrepreneur that he is, Chip realized that there was a broader market for calendars outside the University of California at Santa Barbara and started his own company, Day Dream Publishing. But Chip Conk knew he couldn’t run the business on his own, so he called upon his younger brother Chris and his older sister Joellyn. The calendars from Day Dream Publishing started off with simple images, then the Conks were able to get the rights to print calendars featuring characters from Disney’s animated film, “The Lion King,” NBA and NFL players, music superstars like The Beatles, Garth Brooks and Shania Twain, and popular TV shows like “Home Improvement” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.” As Day Dream Publishing continued to grow, its calendars were carried in stores like Wal-Mart and Target and soon hit the international market. Chris Conk became the vice president for international sales, Joellyn Conk was vice president of U.S. sales and Chip Conk was, of course, the president and founder. The Conk siblings were featured in a newspaper article about them and Day Dream Publishing. At Montecito Medical Investment Company, where Chip Conk serves as the president and CEO, Joellyn Conk and Chris Conk are once again on Chip’s management team. Chris is the West Coast acquisitions supervisor for MMIC and Joellyn is the director of marketing. Evidently, the Conk siblings make a great team. When all three Conks work together, success ensues.
